Brindleyplace becomes latest National Supplier for IAAF World Indoor Championships

Brindleyplace, Birmingham’s prime canalside office and leisure development, has become the latest national supplier for the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018, which takes place 1 to 4 March at the Arena Birmingham.

Joan Durose, Championships Director, said “We are delighted to have Brindleyplace on board. With its close proximity to Arena Birmingham it will provide a natural meeting place and thoroughfare to the venue for athletes, officials, teams and spectators. It will be fantastic to see the Championships branding across Brindleyplace and the many activities also bringing the event closer to the public.”

Situated just over the canal from Arena Birmingham, Brindleyplace offers 25 restaurants, bars and cafes for visitors to enjoy. With hotels also accommodating many of the teams, officials, media and spectators during the event, Brindleyplace will be home to hundreds during the Championships.

Ruby, the Championships mascot, will be roaming around the development, there will be live music each day to keep visitors entertained and the area will be branded in the Championship colours.

Caroline Pooley, Director at GVA – who manage the Brindleyplace development – said “We’re delighted that Brindleyplace has become a national supplier to the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018. As a neighbour to the Arena and a longstanding champion of attracting visitors and businesses to the city, we were very keen to support the Birmingham City Council and British Athletics with this event.”

Tickets for the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018 are selling fast but there are currently still some available mainly for Thursday 1 March and Friday 2 March.

Each session is packed with athletics action and the opening night will see three straight finals with the medals in the women’s high jump, men’s high jump and women’s 3000m all up for grabs. Friday morning includes the start of the heptathlon and the pentathlon with the evening session seeing the conclusion of the pentathlon as well as women’s 60m final.

Look out for the Championship mascot, Ruby the red panda who will be roaming around Brindleyplace as well as live music which will take place in Central Square on each day:
