Following a record-breaking £150,000 raised for charity last year, Brindleyplace has announced its continued support for Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice for 2018, alongside two new charity partners, Buddy Bag Foundation and The Royal Society for Blind Children.

Nathan Sanghera, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have raised a record amount of money for our charity partners last year and it’s great to be working with Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice again, as well as two new very worthy causes. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Brindleyplace community and the general public for their generosity over the past year and hope that with their continued support we can raise even more in 2018.

“After last year’s success, we’ll be partnering each charity with one of our events so expect even more fancy dress, family activities and fundraising over the next 12 months!”

This year’s first Brindleyplace Family Festival in June incorporating the ever popular Dragonboat Race sponsored by Deutsche Bank, will raise funds for Cure Leukaemia for the fourth year running, while The Royal Society for Blind Children will partner the outdoor Film Festival in July, The Buddy Bag Foundation will be fundraising at this year’s Chilli Festival which takes place in September and activity at Chocival will support Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice in October. St. Mary’s Hospice will also be bringing its Forget Me Not display to Brindleyplace from 2 – 8 April with an installation of wrought iron forget-me-nots remembering the lives of loved ones lost in Central Square.

Rob Cartwright, Head of Corporate at The Royal Society for Blind Children, said: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen as a Brindleyplace charity partner and we’re looking forward to working with the team on something a little bit different at the annual Film Festival this July; helping us raise awareness and funds to fulfil our mission and make sure that no child should grow up to be poor or lonely just because they are blind.”

Rebecca Halbert, Trustee at Buddy Bag Foundation, said: “Partnering with Brindleyplace is a great opportunity for us to showcase the work we do providing Buddy Bags for children in emergency care, in the Midlands and nationally. Every Buddy Bag includes essentials that are often left behind when fleeing violent situations, such as pyjamas and toiletries, as well as home comforts like a book or teddy, so every donation helps us make a difference to a child.”
