Get involved in Brum's BIGGEST SHIM SHAM!
Are you ready to get tappin’? Tappin’ In is a mass participation tap dancing and storytelling extravaganza culminating here in Brindleyplace.
Join us on Saturday 18th June at 3pm in Central Square where the Tappin’ In dancers present a joyful live performance, hosted by TV and Radio favourite, Christopher Green. During spring 2022, 130 people from Birmingham, Coventry, Stoke, Rugby, Cannock Chase, Chelmsley Wood, Tamworth and Telford have learning to tap dance, whilst also listening to each other’s stories and experiences. We come together in the heart of Birmingham for an afternoon in celebration of the joy of dance, supported by a team of professional performers, choreographers, music directors and set designers in this finale event.
Then everyone is invited to join in as we attempt the city’s biggest tap lesson and Shim Sham, known as the national anthem of tap.
We want Tappin’ In to be open to everyone. Find out about our Access provisions here.
You can learn the Shim Sham at home in a set of easy-to-follow videos, here. Post your dances on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #TappinIn – and be sure to follow Tappin’ In to look out for updates!
Tappin’ In is presented at past of Birmingham 2022 Festival and Birmingham International Dance Festival.
