Tips for Working From Home

Working from home can seem like a daunting task for those who normally commute to the office each day. As working from home becomes the norm for many, we’ve pulled together some top tips on maximising productivity during this challenging time.

Routine

Make sure to set your alarm and wake up at a consistent time during the week. Once up, complete your daily routine as normal to get you ready for the working day. Yes – that does mean changing out of your pyjamas! If you normally listen to Free Radio on your commute, tune in at your usual time and enjoy the Breakfast Show for a great start to the day.

Know when you work best

The benefits of working from home are that it allows more flexibility to your working day. Find out when you work best and take advantage of it – if you find that you are more productive during the mornings, sign in an hour early and get through those emails before everyone else signs in.

Set up an allocated workspace

Although working from the sofa can seem appealing, set up an allocated workspace either at a desk or the dining room table will mean higher productivity. If possible, try to keep work away from your bedroom – this should remain a space of relaxation and sanctuary during the end of the work day. Take a lunch break

Give yourself a lunch break as you would during your normal working day – and make sure to step away from your laptop during this time too. Working from home can feel very monotonous so it’s important to break up the day. Consider using this time to exercise, cook a healthy lunch or practice some mindfulness techniques. Clock off

When working from home it can be easy to pick up your laptop and work phone outside of office hours. If possible, try and stick to your traditional hours and put your laptop away at the end of your usual work day.

Most importantly, stay safe and ensure that you are looking after yourself and loved ones during this time. Brindleyplace will be here to welcome you back very soon.
