Our Power, Our Planet

The theme for Earth Day 2026, “Our Power, Our Planet,” is all about turning awareness into action. It highlights the collective power we all hold to drive meaningful environmental change.

This is a powerful opportunity to take tangible steps toward sustainability. Whether it’s reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, or engaging in greener practices, every action contributes to a larger, global impact.

At Brindleyplace, our approach to environmental sustainability is:

  • To take what is already there and re-use, rehabilitate and reposition
  • To improve an assets’ environmental credentials
  • To laser focus on reducing consumption and operating costs

We excel at waste management according to our 2025 tenant survey and we have several energy initiatives in place, but we are fully aware there is always more we can do.

How You Can Make a Difference

Sustainability doesn’t have to mean sweeping, overnight changes. In fact, some of the most effective steps are practical, achievable, and scalable over time. Here are a few ways you can start making an impact this Earth Day:

  1. Reduce and rethink waste
Audit your current waste streams and identify opportunities to reduce, reuse, or recycle more effectively. Even small adjustments like improving recycling signage or eliminating single-use items can make a measurable difference.
  2. Engage with others
Sustainability works best when it’s a shared effort. Encourage others to get involved through awareness campaigns, internal challenges, or green initiatives in the workplace.
  3. Explore clean energy providers
More providers than ever are offering renewable tariffs with competitive pricing – and switching is simpler than most people expect. Reviewing your current energy contract is a great place to start.
  4. Review your suppliers and processes
Consider working with partners who prioritise sustainability.
  5. Set realistic sustainability goals
Earth Day is the perfect time to set or revisit your environmental targets. Start small, track progress, and build momentum over time.

With the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” there’s never been a better time to step up, take responsibility, and make a positive difference.

Earth Day is a global awareness day that takes place every year on 22nd April and is dedicated to tackling climate change, reducing pollution, and championing sustainable action.

Climate change remains one of the most urgent challenges we face. Global temperatures have already risen by more than 1°C above pre-industrial levels, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, and millions of tonnes of waste continue to end up in landfill every year. At the same time, businesses and industries account for a significant share of global emissions—making their role in driving change more critical than ever.

Earth Day is more than a date in the calendar. It’s a call to reflect on the impact we’re having on the planet and, more importantly, what we can do to protect it.
