Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 12th to 18th May, and this year’s theme is Community — a reminder of the importance of connection and how a sense of belonging can support our mental health.
At Brindleyplace, we’re proud to have built a thriving Wellness Community that brings professionals from across the estate together through movement, mindfulness, and mutual support. From weekly yoga, Pilates, running, and fitness classes to bi-weekly massage sessions, monthly sound baths, and even rooftop beekeeping sessions — there really is something for everyone. It’s all designed to help our tenants reconnect with themselves and others, offering a welcoming break from their desks during the work week.
In the middle of fast-paced workdays, back-to-back meetings, and looming deadlines, it’s easy to forget the importance of investing in mental and physical health. But as the saying goes:
“If you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.”
That’s why we’re encouraging everyone who works at Brindleyplace to carve out time this month — not just for themselves, but to be part of our welcoming fitness community.
Why Community Matters
A sense of community plays a powerful role in mental health. When we feel connected, safe, and supported, we’re better equipped to cope with stress, navigate challenges, and build emotional resilience. Community reminds us that we’re not alone — and that shared experiences can be deeply healing.
Move Together, Feel Better
Physical activity is one of the most effective ways to lift your mood and reduce anxiety. Just a brisk walk or a gentle movement practice can boost your mental wellbeing, ease stress, and give you a much-needed break from technostress.
Our Brindley Running Club is a perfect example of this in action. Running in a group is not only motivating — it also releases feel-good endorphins, gets you out in the fresh air along the canals, and builds a real sense of camaraderie.
The same goes for our yoga and Pilates classes, which are beginner-friendly, welcoming, and designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system — helping the body shift from “fight or flight” into “rest and digest.” After a morning spent at a desk, these movement practices help to reset, recharge, stand tall, and breathe deeply, while also relieving those niggling aches and pains associated with desk work.
At Brindley Wellness, we believe wellbeing is not just an individual pursuit — it’s something we build together.
We’d love our tenants to join us this Mental Health Awareness Week and be part of a community that prioritises care, connection, and growth.
As I said, there really is something for everyone who works here.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
All the very best,
Ruth x
