Premium bar and restaurant operator, The Alchemist has announced plans to open its second site in Birmingham.
The brand famed for its theatrical cocktails and all-day dining is set to bring its alchemy flair to Birmingham’s popular development Brindleyplace replacing the former Le Monde site.
Since opening its first location on Colmore Row in the summer of 2016, The Alchemist has proven to be a popular destination in the city, building a loyal following of locals and visitors alike enjoying its innovative drinks and dining offering. The new venue at Brindleyplace promises more of the same and will be open late into the night, serving up its award winning, theatrical cocktails to the backdrop of DJs, vocalists and live musicians.
The new bar and restaurant will open its doors to customers in August, and will create 70 full and part-time jobs for locals. The Alchemist will be investing £1.4m into the site that will span over 6,270sqft and the team have promised a new look and feel that will offer the perfect foil to its much-loved venue on Colmore Row.
The opening forms part of an exciting growth plan for The Alchemist in 2019 with new sites secured in London’s Old Street and Embassy Gardens.
Felix Crosse, Head of Bars at The Alchemist, said of the announcement: “Since opening The Alchemist on Colmore Row in 2016 we have become one of the go to places for cocktails in the city. We are really proud to have created the LAB which is unique to Birmingham and a testing ground for potential new drinks on our national menu. The opportunity at Brindleyplace will allow us to delve into the late night space in Birmingham and offer something a little different.
The area is perfectly positioned next to Arena Birmingham and the International Convention Centre and makes for being an established and popular dining and drinking destination for residents, local workers and visitors. It will be a great foil to our much loved Colmore Row venue which continues to thrive in the heart of the city.
There have been many fantastic developments and new openings in Birmingham recently and as a company we are all just incredibly proud and excited to be part of what promises to be a brilliant year for the city’s eating and drinking out scene.”
Stacey Muir, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace said “The Water’s Edge at Brindleyplace is widely known as a great place to meet and socialise with friends and The Alchemist will be a fantastic addition; we are really excited to be their second venue in Birmingham and this compliments our great selection of bars, restaurants, live music and major events. Over 10,000 people work at and visit Brindleyplace every day and we are sure The Alchemist will become a firm favourite with the Brindleyplace crowd!”
