Umberto's pioneers charity hair care
Leading hairdressers, including Brindleyplace’s own Darren Gilbert of Umberto’s, are pioneering a new charity to support women who lose their hair.
My New Hair, the brainchild of celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie and supported by hairdressers around the country, donates and styles wigs for women who are suffering the effects of hair loss due to ill health or cancer treatments.
Darren Gilbert, senior stylist at Umberto’s, said: “More than 41,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and are being treated with chemotherapy which leads to hair loss. These women are treated medically, but no-one is addressing the emotional heartache of losing their hair.”
My New Hair is creating a network of reputable hairdressers countrywide to become involved in the project.
