Gift Tree Appeal

A big thank you to all those who participated in this year’s Barnardo’s Gift Tree. Brindleyplace’s tenants managed to raise a record 1,200 gifts, beating last year’s record of 1,000, for underprivileged children around the West Midlands.

Examples of those who benefitted from your generosity include a family, living in Moseley, with nine kids, who each had no Christmas presents until Barnardos arrived to deliver Gift Tree presents to them for Christmas Day. They were delighted by Brindleyplace’s generosity.

Several family projects in Dudley, that work with the most deprived families in the West Midlands, also benefitted from your generosity. Barnardos reports that it has already received a number of e-mails from workers at these projects, asking to pass their thanks onto the people who had provided such lovely and thoughtful gifts.

Among those projects which received Gift Tree donations was My Space, My Time, which is a service for children affected by domestic abuse and seeks to address the impact of violence on family life. There are 27 children in this Project since it was launched in October 2006 and each of them received a present this year.

The 0-18 Family Placement project also received Gift Tree donations. It is a special service which was set up to provide alternative families for children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, can no longer live with their birth families.

So, again, a big thank you to all who took part and please continue to do so in the future.
