The Climate Change Festival (31st May ‘til 8th June) in Birmingham, will help people to see the city through new eyes. The festival organisers promise something very different to other campaigns about sustainability. Events throughout the week will range from community-based projects to a hothouse event for professionals working in the built environment sector, and a green day for schools. It will also include the launch on World Environment Day of Birmingham’s first ever climate change strategy and action plan. People and businesses across Birmingham are invited to take part; contact lin.glover@birmingham.gov.uk for more information. In support of the Climate Change Festival, on the 4 June, WhizzGo will be launching their pay-by-the hour car scheme at Brindleyplace. The WhizzGo scheme helps reduce your carbon footprint and save you money, offering a network of low emission vehicles for members to access any time of the day or night, on your doorstep at Brindleyplace. An alternative to private car ownership, the scheme can save you up to £3,500 a year and the car club also allows businesses to opt for more sustainable corporate travel. With a base rate starting at £49.50 a month with competitive corporate rates considered on a case by case basis. Once a member you can hire WhizzGo cars on an hourly basis from only £4.95 an hour inclusive of fuel, insurance, tax, breakdown cover and maintenance. On the day there will be an opportunity to sign up, grab giveaways, demonstrations and much more!
