Recycling

Recycling is at the heart of energy great environmental system and is a key part of Brindleyplace’s Environmental Policy.  Over the years, Brindleyplace has gradually increased its recycling programme with enthusiastic tenant participation helping us to collect and recycle paper, glass and plastic; we set ourselves new recycling targets every year.

As a result of the recent retender process, Brindleyplace is now able to divert 100% of its waste away from landfill.  Waste that cannot be recycled at source is sent for incineration for energy and the energy is used to power homes in Birmingham.

Brindleyplace can recycle cans, newspapers, plastics, non-confidential paper, cardboard, glass and toner cartridges and if you are a Brindleyplace tenant we will collect your recycling from your offices either on a scheduled day or an ad-hoc basis if required.

We will also provide quotations for the disposal of bulky and hazardous waste including furniture, fridges, batteries, computers and other office equipment.

Recycling at source is not only environmentally friendly – there are also major financial benefits.   Over the next twelve months Brindleyplace will be working with our tenants to increase recycling opportunities in particular with regard to cardboard, glass and cans.

Did you know…

In 2008 the Brindleyplace waste management scheme recycled 133 tonnes of cardboard.  Not only has this assisted in the reduction of carbon emissions but has saved £7,847.00 that would have been spent on landfill costs.  This cost is used to reduce the overall costs of the scheme.

By consolidating various waste management contracts on Brindleyplace, 2,500 waste vehicle have been removed from the Estate each year.  This equates to an average saving of 48.5 tonnes of cardboard each year – imagine what we could achieve if we all used the same stationery supplier on scheduled visits!
