The Local Produce Market at Brindleyplace welcomes two exciting new additions at the second summer market on Friday 29th July.
Penny Zako, who appeared on the popular ITV show ‘Britain’s Best Dish 2011’ will be cooking up a storm (hopefully just metaphorically!) from 12.30pm this Friday to demonstrate how to get the most from local produce. Penny, who went on to win Midlands Best Starter 2011 with her Pea Veloute and marinated Ham Hock is a passionate supporter of British Food Producers. She will be cooking a variety of dishes at the market and will be on hand to answer questions and give advice.
The second celebrity appearance on Friday, back due to popular demand is Little Urn, Yorkshire Tea’s tea-mobile! During his time in the US bringing Brits abroad a proper brew, Little Urn received numerous requests to return home and his Facebook fans chose Brindleyplace as one of his stop-overs. So now he’s back and ready to catch-up on his domestic duties! He will be serving up free cups of tea at the market in Brindleyplace from 11am.
The Local Produce Market at Brindleyplace attracts a wide range of local producers giving customers a fantastic choice of food and drink from fresh fruit and vegetables to delicious cakes and pastries. The markets are held between 10am-3pm on the last Friday of every month through to September at Brindleyplace’s Central Square.
Russell Dean of market operator Sketts added: “Whilst we offer a variety of produce we’re always open to suggestions for additional produce and keen to attract new local traders who would like to try a new location. We would also urge people to support the markets even in the wet weather that our British Summer will inevitably throw at us!“
