Jazz in Birmingham: live music returns to Brindleyplace

Jazz in Birmingham

There’s been a change in the air at Brindleyplace this week – literally.  After months of frost, snow and dismal days, the sun has finally broken through and dare I say it, the warmer months seem to be approaching!

As the days become longer and venturing outside no longer requires five layers of clothing, Brindleyplace’s outdoor events are springing back to life.  Live music returns to the estate this weekend as we take part in the Harmonic Festival – an artist led week long celebration of Birmingham’s vibrant and diverse jazz scene (harmonic festival.co.uk).

The Harmonic Festival arrives in Brindleyplace on Saturday as organ trio Mc3 mark the year’s first live performance at the Water’s Edge Bandstand.  Influenced heavily by the Pat Martino, Joey DeFrancesco and Billy Hart album ‘Live at Yoshi’s’, Mc3 play a mix of hard bop, funk and contemporary grooves.  The band has recently finished a couple of dates with award winning saxophonist Tony Kofi and we can’t wait to see them perform live in Brindleyplace.

Once you’ve watched the band perform why not stick around and enjoy lunch in Brindleyplace where we are proud to offer a choice of the best restaurants in Birmingham.

We’re always keen to showcase the best of Birmingham’s musical talent at Brindleyplace so if you are a band which would like the chance to perform in Birmingham city centre please get in touch.  Equally, if you’re a talented entertainer, Birmingham street dance crew or any other type of performer looking for a chance to showcase your style locally, we’d like to hear from you as we plan our live events calendar for 2010.

Want to watch or hear a certain type of performance in Brindleyplace this year?  Post your ideas below and we’ll see what we can do!

See you on the estate soon,
Tracey
