Five things to do in Birmingham this winter

Heading up events in Brindleyplace is never dull and I’m currently busy organising live music, street dancing and the Farmer’s Market for the spring and summer.
If you’re looking for interesting things to do in Birmingham to liven up the dark days now is the perfect time to take a fresh look at Brindleyplace. While our outdoor events are limited during the colder months there are still plenty of activities going on indoors to keep you entertained. Here are my top five recommendations for putting some fun into the new year without breaking the bank…
1. Visit a gallery. Ikon Gallery and Number Nine The Gallery are both showcasing some fantastic works this month and are well worth a visit be it a quick lunchtime diversion or weekend outing.
2. Eat out. The trend for restaurant vouchers continues so make the most of it with national restaurant chains based in Brindleyplace including Café Rouge, Pizza Express, All Bar One and Slug and Lettuce all offering discounts on new year dining.
3. Discover the new you. Make time for yourself and book a pampering treatment at Bannatyne Health Club’s Sensory Spa where a number of relaxing treatments are on offer this month.
4. See a film. The SEA LIFE centre Brindleyplace has Birmingham’s first Sensorama 4-D cinema where you can watch, smell and even feel the action.
5. Rediscover old favourites. Take time to revisit your favourite elements of Brindleyplace. Tin Tin Chinese Restaurant reopened with new management and a mouth watering new menu at the end of last year. If you haven’t visited it yet you will be pleased to know that Brindleyplace loyalty card holders now enjoy a 10 per cent discount.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Brindleyplace events calendar for the latest updates on forthcoming events and things to do in Birmingham.
If you’ve got any favourite things to do in Brindleyplace that you would like to share or suggestions for forthcoming events we could host, please leave a comment below.
Have fun on the estate.
Tracey.

I lived in Cape Town for 2 years so the photographs that Pogus Caesar has taken remind me so much of the place.
The fact that he’s shot them in black and white makes them so strikingly matter of fact – and that makes for iconic images.
Its worth viewing, and the low level lighting makes you get up real close.
